Beginner Piano Lessons

Intermediate Piano Lessons

In our beginner piano lessons, students will get acquainted with the piano and acquire a detailed understanding of the basics of music. Through colours and analogies, students will learn to read notes, develop their ears, play simplified versions of well-known songs and sight-read. Musical ideas such as dynamics, rhythm and key signatures are main components of these lessons, and students will complete homework from their theory books on a weekly basis to solidify their understanding of these concepts.
Students in our intermediate piano division are typically pianists who have begun to explore the Royal Conservatory of Music program. In our intermediate piano lessons, students learn more challenging musical ideas such as a complex rhythms, chord progressions, voicing and improvisation. Students also play full-length pieces by well-known composers, and usually register for theory lessons to improve their notational skills.

Advanced Piano Lessons

Adult & Senior Piano Lessons

Students in our advanced piano division are musicians who have shown that they take their lessons seriously. These pianists play difficult and often lengthy pieces (i.e. large-scale Beethoven sonatas, concert etudes by Chopin and Liszt, and preludes and fuges by Bach), take advanced theory lessons, and learn about abstract musical ideas such as compositional structure. Advanced pianists are typically those who have either completed or are working on their Grade 10 Royal Conservatory of Music exam, and they actively perform at competitions and local events.
If you're looking into taking adult and senior piano lessons, you might be a parent interested in learning music to help your child. On the other hand, you may be a grandparent who used to perform on a regular basis, a seasoned professional in need of a second opinion, or someone with no musical experience and a dream of becoming the next Beethoven. Regardless of what you hope to achieve in your lessons, Ava Music & Art Centre Ltd. has a team of teachers that are able to meet your needs as a pianist and help you pursue your path in music. We offer all levels of piano to our adult & senior pianists.
Royal Conservatory of Music
Ava Music & Art Centre Ltd. is pleased to offer the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) Certificate Program for the piano. We cover all levels of practical and theory examinations.
