Music Teachers
Ava Music & Art Centre Ltd. (www.avamusic.ca) is always searching for talented, professional and dedicated instructors to add to our experienced and diverse team. We are currently looking for instructors in all of our departments.​

Our Requirements Include:

  • A university or college degree in music or current enrolment in such a program. An RCM ARCT or other equivalents are also acceptable.
  • Legal permission to work in Canada.
  • A clear criminal record check.
  • Professional teaching experience (approx. 3+ years), flexible schedules, and bilingualism are assets.

What We Look For:
  • Instructors who are passionate musicians, versatile educators and strong team players.
  • Instructors with the knowledge to teach students of all ages and levels, including students who take music examinations and/or compete in festivals.
  • Instructors who are comfortable with educating students in a private, semi-private or group setting.
  • Instructors who are capable of teaching various genres of music, such as classical and pop.
  • Instructors with theory and music history knowledge.

Secretaries
Ava Music & Art Centre Ltd. is a professional, friendly music school and store located in North Vancouver, British Columbia. We are currently seeking full-time secretaries.

Successful candidates will be responsible for tasks including, but not limited to, the following:
  • Assisting office managers and administrative assistants with budgeting, studio organization, policy updates, special events etc..
  • Acting as the liaison between Ava Music's management team and Ava Music's students, families, suppliers, associates, staff members, teachers, and store clients.
  • Managing calendars, contacts, and organizing staff meetings.
  • Leading the organization of studio events (i.e. bi-annual concerts) and client workshops.
  • Taking on leadership roles for special projects and events when needed.
  • Managing databases and important lists.
  • Supervising and editing the creation of school newsletters and mass e-mails.
  • Operating the studio's scheduling system.
  • Providing a positive experience to all Ava Music & Art Centre Ltd. clients and assisting receptionists with their tasks when needed.
  • Creating and printing client invoices.
  • Operating a till.
  • Updating our social media pages.
  • Maintaining general office cleanliness.

Candidate Requirements:
  • Have at least two years of experience in a relevant role (i.e. secretary, office assistant etc.)
  • Able to multi-task.
  • Customer service skills are a must! We particularly look for secretaries who are able to remain positive in difficult situations.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Intermediate to advanced typing skills and grammar.

Qualities We Look For:
Our secretaries are good leaders, creative, organized, experienced with handling difficult situations, positive and detail-oriented. They also tend to be fast learners.

Candidate Assets:
  • Experience playing a musical instrument or a diverse breadth of music knowledge (i.e. former piano student, theory knowledge from school, time spent in a high school level band class, music literacy, well-informed music lover/frequent attendee of concerts of all genres etc.)
  • Capability to speak other languages.
  • Experience working with children

Receptionists
Ava Music & Art Centre Ltd. is a professional, friendly music school and store located in North Vancouver, British Columbia. We are currently seeking full-time receptionists. 

Successful candidates will be responsible for tasks including, but not limited to, the following:
  • Providing a positive experience for customers at Ava Music & Art Centre Ltd. by greeting them when they arrive at our facility, answering questions they may have regarding our services and policies etc..
  • Assisting Ava Music & Art Centre Ltd.'s clients in person, by phone, by e-mail and by social media.
  • Registering new and returning students for music lessons.
  • Operating our studio's scheduling system.
  • Creating and printing client invoices.
  • Operating a till.
  • Updating our inventory of store products and office supplies.
  • Updating our social media pages.
  • Co-creating school newsletters and mass e-mails.
  • Maintaining general office cleanliness.

Candidate Requirements:
  • Have at least one year of experience in a receptionist role.
  • Able to multi-task.
  • Customer service skills are a must! We look for team members who are friendly and can easily engage in conversations with our students, clients, suppliers, and staff.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Intermediate typing skills and grammar.
